“I find myself often thinking of those that built the first ships to traverse the oceans. I feel as if I’m in the same position”
The Character
Ariel, a citizen of the satellite space nation Nova Zion, is cool, collected, focused and knows when it’s appropriate to be funny. A natural problem solver and leader, Ariel tries to look at both the big picture and the small picture in all situations - That goes for both in designing spacecraft and in dealing with interpersonal relationships. He’s loyal and dependable, often slipping into a surrogate father roles with others when necessary. He has dignity and gives respect - Even to robots. His partner PEET is a robot (In universe term, “metascentient”) and Ariel regards PEET as an equal and a comrade.
Ariel is a believer in his country’s adopted principles of “New Humanism” in that equality among all people should be an absolute and should be enforced, if necessary. Having no prejudices, Ariel finds it easy to live within his country's rules and practices. He is close with Gomez, the head of security of Nova Zion. With Ariel, Gomez is confident in sharing some of the deepest secrets regarding the symphony fighters and Nova Zion.
Biography
Ariel Sharif was born in space aboard a communal housing facility that was attached to a worker owned cooperative that specialized in producing batteries called “Sitaara.” Naturally, his parents were workers of Sitaara and he grew up in a community of people that all worked for the company. For the workers, Sitaara provided everything a town could need, including schools, parks, recreation facilities, restaurants, arcades and attractions as well as areas designated for shopping, business and commerce.
Ariel’s proficient accomplishments and skills in engineering led to him being employed by the new startup space nation Nova Zion in designing spacecraft, which would be Nova Zion’s main source of income. His consistent productivity allowed him to level up to lead designer as well as head of development and maintenance of the symphony fighters, as well as designing Nova Zion’s first original symphony fighter, the C-Sharp-Major.
Voice Actor Audition Speech
“Let me tell you something. Space can be dangerous.
Notice I said ‘can be’ and not ‘is.’
Any place can be dangerous.
Earth can be dangerous.
You just need to be smart, prepare, and follow the rules.
Have people died in space? Yes.
People used to die out in the ocean and now you never hear about people getting shipwrecked.
When I work on spacecraft, I know where to try new things and what shouldn’t be messed with.
A strong hardbody is always a must.
Space is harsh.
Not just the vacuum, but all the debris and meteorites and objects and all else.
It’s not just my reputation on the line, but also the lives of my own friends and family that fly in the spacecraft I oversee.
That also goes for the ones that fly in the symphony fighters.
These giant robots look tough, but they need constant safety checks to make sure they are top notch -
not just to complete the mission, but also to bring my comrades back home safely.
Is my job stressful? Sure.
But remember, I said space ‘can be’ dangerous and not just ‘is.’”
